The Pharaoh ant is a common pest in the home environment.  I will use this post to share a recent experience we had with a severe infestation.

The Pharaoh Ant  aka sugar ant

Is a small ant about 2mm in length and varies in color from tan to light brown.

The Pharaoh Ant will build its colonies anywhere from behind baseboards, in wall voids, attics and even outside. The colonies of the pharaoh ant may very from several thousand ants to only a few hundred ants.

Because pharaoh ants have a high demand for water, they are very aggressive when it comes to obtaining it.  They have been known to take it from pet dishes, aquariums, and faucets to name a few.

Recent Infestation

We were called by a customer who was complaining about sugar ants infesting her cabinets and pantry areas.  Upon arriving to her home we discovered numerous ants trailing the perimeter of the home in search of food and water.  The pictures below show how important it is to use the appropriate bait.

In a matter of minutes I had the ants feeding aggressively in several locations.

As you can see when the right bait is used the ants will recruit more ants to feed thus decreasing the amount of time needed to eliminate the ants.  If you are frustrated by a sugar ant problem give us a call today.  979 245 5700!
