Have you ever seen a bed bug?

b2ap3_thumbnail_photo.JPG

shown above is an adult bed bug that we found on a mattress.

As a professional pest management company we feel it is our duty to inform and educate our customers as well as potential customers about bed bugs.  Since these insects cross socio economic boundaries they pose a threat to everyone.  Simple steps can be taken to prevent an infestation, I will outline them below.

1.  When you stay in any hotel/motel or travel anywhere, ALWAYS put your suitcase in the bathroom never on the bed.

2.  Pull back sheets and bedspread and inspect seams of mattress for the insect shown above. There may be blood stains on        the mattress or caste skins that are deposited after a molt. These are signs of an infestation past/present.

3. Upon returning home, leave your suitcase outside and immediately wash all clothes.  Even if you did not use them, bedbugs     may have entered your suitcase without your knowledge.  By washing all your clothes you are eliminating the possibility of       introducing bugs through your clothes.

Those are three pretty good ideas for travelers. However, even If you do not travel, you are still at risk for a bed bug infestation.  If you rent furniture and the furniture came from a place that had an infestation prior to you getting it.  There may still be bugs present and now you face the possibility of an infestation.

Be mindful of what comes into your home.  Inspecting everything that comes in is always your first line of defense.

I hope you have found these tips useful. If you suspect a bed bug problem feel free to give us a call and we will be glad to help.

Sincerely,

It has occurred to me on more than one occasion that some in the public do not perceive those of us in pest management in the greatest of light. Since 1965 a lot has changed in our industry and I would like to help you see some of those changes.

With the ever continuing drought conditions we need to do more to protect water and use it as efficiently as possible.  A good way to do this is to upgrade your old irrigation controller with a smart controller.
