Hairy Carribean Crazy Ant aka (Rasberry Crazy Ant)

In 2002 a local Pest Control operator Tom Rasberry discovered a non native ant species near the Houston Ship Channel.  Since then, the ant has become invasive and now infests 18 Texas Counties.

In July of 2011, Matagorda County became the 18th county after a technician with Bob Klepac Exterminating Service discovered the ants at a home in Wadsworth, Texas.  In a years time, we have now confirmed infestations in multiple locations around Wadsworth, Matagorda, Selkirk, Markham and Bay City.  The ant can be found on both sides of the Colorado River at the 521 Bridge and threatens several vital Industrial facilities in the area.

The following videos will give you an idea of the sheer volume of ants associated with an infestation.

Treatment Options

At this time effective over the counter treatment options are very limited.  It is reccomended that you contact a Professional to help you get some control of the ants.  You the consumer should also know that at this time, completly eliminating the ants from your property is not realistic.
